Wildlife in Åmli

The Beaver is Åmli`s local mascott! You can also observe the beaver in the County symbol. The beaver was allmost extinct  several places around the world. And in Åmli a lot of effort was made to save the beaver and this breed was exported to others places like Germany.

The Beaver is a "working chap" with his dams and houses, and you can often observe him out in nature!

Did you know that the beaver-coubs are born with a natural life-jacket?

The elk is also called the "King of the Woods" in Norway.

In Åmli we have a lot  of elk. You can see this wonderful creature in early mornings  at sunrise, or late in the evening in the woods of Åmli !

We don`t only have reindeer on the Northpole in Norway , but also in Åmli!

Deep into the forest they live, But they are very shy and not easiely spotted!

In Åmli we also have capercailzie or wood grouse.

This is a beautiful bird which can be spotted in the spring and early summer. In the springtime these birds have å famous mating game in the woods.

It is a typical norwegian tradition to go and adventure these games. It is truely a excotic experience!
